FIRE EMERGENCY/911 NUMBERS
These numbers assist emergency workers in locating your property in the event that you may need assistance, for medical, fire or other critical needs.
Special Notice, Sept. 2003
It has come to our attention that several properties on the North End of the waterway, in the Town of Franklin, have been issued the exact same 911 house identity number. It seems that if several people live on the same Private Road, these houses are given the same number. If you think you fit into this category, Please Check with your neighbors to see if they have your number, as well. You may need to name your road, in accordance with the following guidelines, in order to have unique numbers assigned to your property.
Franklin County Guidelines for Naming Private Roads:
- At least three houses/businesses are serviced by the road to be named.
- More than 50 percent of the building owners must agree upon the name to be used.
- The name chosen shall not conflict with the existing names or either the public or private roads within the fire district/township.
- Notification in writing, with signatures of those in agreement, shall be forwarded to the E911 Office for review and record filing.
- At the point of entry from the public highway, a sign must be erected and maintained stating the accepted name on the top line and "Private Road" designation. Internal branches/spurs or the road should be adequately signed with names and/or numbers.
